Your Role: GIS Coordinator
We are seeking a dependable GIS Coordinator to join Ampirical. This role is part of our Cappstone Energy Group team, which focuses on delivering specialized GIS services that support the safe and reliable operation of utility infrastructure. The GIS Coordinator works closely with the Field Service team as well as the Engineering team to ensure integration between the data collected in the field, data submitted to the client, and the data processed for engineering modeling. Responsibilities include validating the accuracy and completeness of field data, converting that data into usable formats for the customer, and ensuring timely delivery and implementation. The role also involves processing and converting customer‑provided data for use within engineering models.
What You’ll Do:
Upload, organize, and manage data to be collected by the Field Services team.
Process and validate field‑collected data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards and requirements.
Correct inaccuracies in the data and/or coordinate with the Field Services team to collect any missing or insufficient information.
Communicate directly with customers regarding identified issues of concern (e.g., failed poles, required right‑of‑way clearing, NESC violations, and other field‑verified risks).
Convert collected data into customer‑specific schemas and formats to ensure seamless integration into the customer’s systems.
Engage with customers to confirm that delivered data meets their operational needs, functions properly within their workflows, and identify opportunities for improved practices.
Review and refine both field collection and data‑processing workflows to ensure best practices are followed, adjusting processes as project requirements evolve.
Work within customer GIS and mapping environments to maintain and update their geospatial data.
Edit customer GIS datasets to reflect large‑scale changes occurring within the field.
Extract and prepare GIS data from customer mapping environments for use in engineering modeling applications.
Produce digital and static mapping products that meet project and customer specifications.
Manage a variety of unique GIS projects tailored to customer needs.
Prepare Environmental Reports for RUS funding of EMC projects, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations, as well as historical and environmental requirements
What You Bring:
Associate’s or bachelor’s of science degree; equivalent utility experience accepted.
2+ years of experience in electric distribution or GIS fields.
Strong sense of accountability and ownership over work quality.
Proficiency with design or mapping software (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, or similar platforms).
Willingness to learn and utilize new programs and software.
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting the needs of the client.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct occasional field verification.
Analytical and detail-focused, with sound technical judgment.
Clear and professional written communication.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Collaborative and solutions-oriented.
Ability to adapt to the growing needs of the client, as well as the constant change of processes and practices.
