PMO Department Overview:

The Engineering PMO Department provides Project Management and Contract compliance with structure and oversight that support Ampirical’s engineering teams in delivering high-quality power delivery projects. The department manages proposals, scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. Serving as a central hub for coordination, communication, and project controls, the PMO drives consistency, accountability, and smooth execution across all engineering projects.

Your Role: Senior Project Manager, Engineering

Ampirical's Engineering PMO is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, multi-discipline engineering project delivery across the full project lifecycle — managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and client relationships on high-risk electrical utility programs valued from $1M to $15M. This is a senior leadership role within a growing PMO, with full lifecycle accountability across multiple concurrent projects, mentorship responsibility for less senior Project Managers, and a supporting Project Controls team.

What You’ll Do:

CONTRACT & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Manage contract scope for multiple high-risk projects, task orders, and designs ranging from $1M to $15M, overseeing engineering deliverables and ensuring quality and regulatory compliance across multiple concurrent, multi-discipline designs.

Complete and maintain risk registers; negotiate contract terms and conditions; liaise with legal on client and subconsultant contracts.

Produce monthly status reporting across the five pillars of contract management: scope, risk, schedule, budget, and resources.
Develop engineering budgets, milestone schedules, and resource plans using both bottom-up and top-down (market value analysis) methods.

PROPOSALS & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Lead competitive bidding and qualifications for complex, multi-discipline engineering proposals, including MSAs.

Provide part-time capture manager support on large proposals as a middle-game business development contributor.

PROJECT & PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

Establish lifecycle management standards and control frameworks across teams and projects, driving consistency, quality, and continuous improvement.

Develop stakeholder communication plans; resolve high-level conflicts and drive stakeholder satisfaction through proactive engagement.

Develop contract negotiation strategies and review major contracts for approval, ensuring legal compliance and organizational alignment.

Lead strategic scheduling and analytics initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally to optimize planning, execution, and program-wide visibility.

CODE COMPLIANCE & FIELD SUPPORT

Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable codes, standards, and the industry standard of care, including engineering license requirements for sealing approved designs.

Manage quality assurance and safety compliance for projects; lead safety briefings and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

Manage environmental and land-use compliance; coordinate with regulatory bodies on permitting.

Manage field coordination — site observations, commissioning events, surveys, and feasibility studies — and lead the preparation of site-specific safety protocols for design packages.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

Develop leadership standards and mentoring programs; identify and nurture emerging leaders across the team.

Develop conflict resolution protocols and coach teams on effective communication and problem-solving.

Align mentoring, onboarding, and best-practice sharing across programs to support consistent knowledge transfer and leadership development.

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

🎓 Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or PMP in lieu of degree)
📊Minimum 12+ years of project management experience in utilities engineering or a closely related technical field
PE license and/or PMP certification
