PMO Department Overview:
The Engineering PMO Department provides Project Management and Contract compliance with structure and oversight that support Ampirical’s engineering teams in delivering high-quality power delivery projects. The department manages proposals, scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. Serving as a central hub for coordination, communication, and project controls, the PMO drives consistency, accountability, and smooth execution across all engineering projects.
Your Role: Associate Engineering Project Manager
Ampirical’s Engineering PMO is seeking an Associate Project Manager to support engineering project delivery across the project lifecycle — developing foundational skills in scope, schedule, budget, risk, and client communication on electrical utility projects. This is a hands-on development role within a growing PMO where Associate PMs work alongside senior Project Managers and are supported by a dedicated Project Controls team, building the competency and confidence to advance through the Engineering PMO career track.
What You’ll Do:
Manage contract scope for smaller projects, task orders, and designs valued at $150,000 or less, focused on single-discipline or non-complex designs
Support the full project lifecycle — from proposal and kickoff through design, field coordination, and closeout — ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and contract-compliant
Develop engineering budgets, milestone schedules, and resource plans using bottom-up methods and begin managing performance against those plans through execution
Support stakeholder communication across engineering teams, clients, subconsultants, and internal leadership — including meetings, status reports, and change order tracking
Develop and maintain contract risk registers and monthly reporting across the five pillars of contract management: scope, risk, schedule, budget, and resources
Coordinate field activities including site observations, commissioning events, surveys, and feasibility studies while ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards
Write task order letters and non-complex, single-discipline basic letter proposals including scope, assumptions, and pricing for client approval
Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and the industry standard of care across every deliverable
What You Bring:
🎓 Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or a relevant field
📊 Experience:
Minimum 3 years of project management experience in utilities engineering or very similar technical fields
PE license and/or PMP certification
