Your Role: Substation Engineering Supervisor
What You’ll Do
Supervise, mentor, and train engineering staff in relay protection and control design as well as Substation physical design.
Identify and implement appropriate protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations.
Select protection devices and ensure proper equipment sizing and specification.
Prepare scopes of work, estimates, and conceptual designs for substation projects.
Create and review drawing packages including wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-line, and three-line diagrams.
Conduct power system studies including short-circuit analysis, relay coordination, CT performance, and relay loadability.
Utilize software tools such as ASPEN, ETAP, and AcSELerator to develop and validate protection settings.
Perform load calculations for panels, battery systems, voltage drop, and other substation components.
Support field personnel during construction and pre-inspection of turnkey substation projects.
Deliver accurate designs of high-voltage electrical substation components that meet industry and client standards.
Design substation systems and components including general arrangement, equipment layout, grounding, conduit, and bills of material.
Prepare construction drawing packages for bids and review incoming submittals for alignment with design and constructability.
Perform quality reviews of electrical engineering work for both peers and subcontractors.
Interface with clients and vendors to ensure project alignment and technical accuracy.
Provide technical guidance on relay settings schemes for various system topologies.
Perform quality control and peer reviews of settings calculations and fault analysis studies.
What You Bring
🎓 Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
📊 Experience:
8+ years of Substation design experience in the electric utility industry.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
💡 Skills:
Engineering supervision or project management experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel to client sites and attend technical conferences.
