Ampirical is seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead our procurement team in supporting large-scale utility and infrastructure projects. In this role, you'll oversee the full procurement lifecycle - from sourcing and supplier selection through delivery and project execution - while ensuring materials arrive on schedule and projects remain aligned with business objectives.
As a leader within our Supply Chain organization, you'll develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, mitigate supply chain risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure critical materials and services are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in support of project success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Procurement Specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Develop and execute procurement strategies that support complex utility and infrastructure projects.
Drive competitive sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, and strategic supplier selection decisions.
Lead negotiations with suppliers on pricing, delivery schedules, service levels, commercial terms, and quality expectations.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to lead times, tariffs, supplier capacity, and market conditions.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align procurement activities with project schedules, material requirements, and business objectives.
Oversee supplier performance management programs, including scorecards, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage a variety of contract structures and support commercial negotiations in partnership with internal stakeholders.
Ensure timely execution of procurement activities, from Bill of Materials (BOM) development through purchase order issuance and material delivery.
Monitor procurement metrics, cost savings initiatives, and supplier performance trends to support data-driven decision making.
Support process improvement efforts, procurement compliance initiatives, and ethical sourcing practices across the supply chain.
Facilitate communication between project teams, suppliers, and leadership to proactively address procurement challenges and maintain project momentum.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
7+ years of procurement experience, including prior leadership or supervisory responsibility.
Experience supporting procurement activities within utility, construction, industrial, manufacturing, or other project-based environments.
Strong supplier negotiation, contract management, and relationship-building skills.
Proven ability to lead teams, prioritize competing demands, and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience developing procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, schedule, and risk.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and SharePoint.
Experience working within ERP, accounting, procurement, or MRP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting electric utility, transmission, distribution, substation, or EPC projects.
Familiarity with Primavera P6 schedule integration and project controls processes.
Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar enterprise systems.
Experience developing procurement reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics.
CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification.
Experience with Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat.
