Your Role: HSE Specialist
The HSE Specialist serves as a key technical resource responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs. This role supports site operations by ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, improving safety culture, and supporting operational excellence. The HSE Specialist works independently under general supervision and partners closely with operations and leadership teams.
What You’ll Do:
Conduct regular site visits and safety audits of crews to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards; provides feedback on positive behaviors and opportunities for improvement
Promotes health safety within an organization, and eliminates or controls hazardous conditions due to human error or equipment and machine operations which could lead to injury or property damage
Identifies, analyzes, and controls work environments; and designs programs to control, eliminate, and prevent hazards, disease, or injury
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of site-level HSE programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state regulations
Review and provide feedback on Safety Plans and Work Plans and validates adherence to Safety Plans and Work Plans in the field
Serve as the site subject matter expert for health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions
Develop, deliver, and track employee safety training programs
Maintain regulatory documentation, permits, inspections, and compliance records
Partner with operations and maintenance to integrate safe work practices
Support emergency response planning and drills
Prepare reports and metrics for leadership
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of safety records, inspections, incident reports, and corrective action logs, consolidating information for management and client review
Experience in safety orientations, briefings, and presentations to field personnel, leadership, and client representatives in a clear, professional, and effective manner
What You Bring:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in HSE or related field OR
Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment or a related field and 1 year of safety / HSE or a relate experience OR
A High school Diploma and 3+ years of safety / HSE or related experience
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to travel to field sites regularly while maintaining a consistent office presence
Willingness to travel up to 75%
Strong verbal communication and public‑speaking skills when leading training sessions, safety meetings, and client interactions
Preferred:
CSP, COSS, CHST, OHST, GSP, ASP, or CUSP
Strong professional communication skills and the ability to interact with both field crews and leadership
Experience with safety management systems or databases
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation and compliance records
Familiarity with OSHA and utility-specific safety standards
