Department Overview:
Our experience means we have the capacity to manage and design concurrent large-scale transmission / distribution projects for one or more clients. Our engineering staff has designed hundreds of miles of overhead transmission and distribution lines for a variety of energy clients including investor-owned utilities, public utilities, municipalities, independent power producers, rural cooperatives, and industrial clients. We utilize the latest in design software tools to provide a thorough technical line design that assures the lowest cost design.
What You’ll Do:
Build and grow client relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to existing and prospective clients, especially municipal and electric cooperative utilities in South Carolina. Travel to client sites, field locations, and vendor facilities as needed to understand client needs and strengthen partnerships.
Be the client’s champion: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, staying in regular communication, gathering feedback, resolving concerns quickly, and anticipating future needs so clients keep coming back.
Lead a client-focused team: Supervise engineers, designers, drafters, and project support coordinators, coaching and mentoring them to deliver a consistently excellent client experience. Conduct performance reviews and evaluations for direct reports.
Develop and empower your engineers: Set clear expectations, delegate work effectively, and provide ongoing coaching and career development. Build a collaborative, high-performing team where engineers grow their skills, take ownership of their work, and understand how it serves the client.
Deliver on client commitments: Oversee the work of Design and Planning Engineers to ensure clients receive complete, accurate, construction-ready deliverables, including distribution line designs, long-range planning support, and system protection studies.
Ensure project success: Manage staffing and utilization so the right people are in place to meet client schedules, milestones, and expectations.
Protect quality: Review work from internal staff and subcontractors to ensure it meets client standards before delivery.
Win new work: Lead development of proposals, bids, schedules, and cost estimates that clearly communicate our value.
