Your Role: Engineer IV
Engineer IV at Ampirical Services, Inc. in Sacramento, CA. Must be willing to travel 5% of the year within the state of California. Eligible to telecommute up to 2 days a week from a home office within a reasonable commuting distance from the Sacramento, CA office. Wage range is $108,077-$158,735/yr.
The Engineer IV will serve as a member of the Sacramento, CA Transmission & Distribution group, responsible for the engineering, design, development, implementation, and analysis of power delivery systems. It may include distribution and transmission design. The Engineer IV also recommends, reviews, and provides quality assurance checks to engineering and design deliverables to improve quality of products and/or development procedures. Using client standards, the Engineer IV prepares construction work packages for implementation of recommended remediation measures, including preparation of drawings and creating material lists. Engineer IV supports training efforts of entry-level engineers and may lead projects from the scoping stage through to construction. Additionally, Engineer IV also conducts site observations during project walk downs and set priorities and tasks for newly recruited engineers.
Job Duties:
· Develop conceptual routes, terrain models, structure loading calculations, layouts, preliminary and for construction detailed engineering and design and specifications for high voltage transmission and/or distribution electrical lines.
· Develop project engineering, design and construction deliverables including plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials, stringing charts, pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and other standard construction drawings.
· Provide quality assurance and quality checks for project engineering deliverables developed internally or by third parties.
· Create engineering and design project guidelines and criteria.
· Analyze construction as-built revisions
· Provide construction support including responding to project RFI’s throughout the project life cycle.
· Support client’s project engineers including interfacing regularly with the client at their offices or in the field attending project job walks.
· Provide project oversight, technical training, and mentor junior level Designers and Engineers assigned to the same project.
· Perform any other duty or task as assigned by the Manager, Director of Vice President of Transmission and Distribution
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related engineering field.
Five (5) years of engineering experience involving transmission and/or distribution line design and 1 year experience performing independent QA/QC. The stated experience must include 5 years: (1) Using design and analysis software and tools such as O’Calc, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SAP, and MF AD/LPILE Tools. (2) Demonstrated knowledge of CPUC General Order 95 and NESC codes through application directly on prior project work and through technical review during the interview process. (3) Coordinating and working on tasks for multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, and 2 years of stated experience.
