Your Role: EPC Project Manager
As a Project Manager at Ampirical, you’ll oversee high-impact Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects focused on Distribution systems, ensuring power is delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently to the communities we serve. You’ll lead multi-discipline engineering and construction efforts for overhead and underground distribution projects, driving schedule, budget, scope, and quality from kickoff through energization. Working alongside talented engineers, subcontractors, and clients, you’ll help strengthen and modernize the grid through innovative distribution solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the full life cycle of Distribution EPC projects, including safety, scope, schedule, budget, risk, and client communication.
- Oversee distribution project designs, including overhead/underground design, Bill of Materials (BOM), equipment specs, and construction standards.
- Lead coordination with internal engineering teams, field crews, subcontractors, local utilities, and municipalities to advance project milestones.
- Develop project proposals, work plans, schedules, cost estimates, and material lists for distribution-focused programs.
- Provide project performance updates and progress reporting to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of engineering drawings, construction packages, and vendor deliverables to ensure compliance with utility standards.
- Visit client sites, field locations, and vendor facilities to ensure project alignment, troubleshoot issues, and validate field conditions.
- Support grid modernization, system hardening, and reliability improvement initiatives through effective project execution.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (In lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in Utility Design, Project Management, or Utility Engineering)
- 10+ years of experience managing EPC or design/construction projects in areas such as:
- Overhead/Underground Distribution
- Distribution Line Rebuilds/Relocations
- System Hardening/Resiliency Programs
- Reliability Improvement Projects
- Make-Ready / Joint-Use Engineering
- Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for cost/schedule reporting
- A strong leader with advanced organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects
- A skilled communicator capable of leading cross-functional teams and engaging stakeholders
- Knowledge of utility distribution engineering practices, construction methods, utility standards, and critical path method scheduling.
